Fighting for answers: How personalized, integrated maternity care helped Rachell achieve her dream of motherhood

Hands-on, coordinated care that overcomes barriers and advocates for everyone

Rachell has always dreamed of being a mother - but her health held her back. She endured five pregnancy losses, each taking a severe toll on her mental and physical health. Rachell thought she might have to give up on her dream, until she found Included Health.

As an Included Health employee, Rachell had experience navigating the healthcare system. She’s advocated for countless Included Health members, supporting them with a variety of needs. But this time was different - Rachell needed to lean on the Included Health team for answers, and they didn’t let her down. Rachell was connected with her Included Health care team - a group of experts that worked together to help her discover the source of her pregnancy loss and achieve her goal of delivering a healthy baby. Her care team initiated a Concierge Referral, connecting Rachell to a reproductive endocrinologist that she otherwise wouldn’t have access to. Rachell’s provider worked with her and her care team to find the root of her issues - an abnormality in her cervix - and intervene surgically to correct it.

Later that year Rachell found out she was pregnant again. This time she delivered a happy, healthy baby and her dream of motherhood finally came true.

Dedicated support that uncovers additional needs

Rachell thought her struggles with healthcare were over, but six months after delivering her baby she began experiencing persistent dizziness and migraines that would last for days. She went to an in-person Primary Care Provider who dismissed her concerns, telling Rachell she was simply experiencing high blood pressure. Rachell felt brushed aside and ignored, and she knew there was more going on with her health. She turned to her Included Health Care Team, who took the time to truly understand her symptoms and seek a diagnosis.

Eventually Rachell was diagnosed with idiopathic intracranial hypertension, a rare disorder caused by a buildup of fluid in the brain. She started medication and began to get her quality of life back, allowing to focus on the precious early days of her child’s life. Without the dedicated support of her Included Health Care Team, Rachell would be unaware of her condition and living with a diminished quality of life. We know she deserves better.
