Common questions about Included Health

Included Health is a health benefit made available to you through HP. We are a primary guide and resource for all your medical and healthcare-related needs. Our services include finding you the top doctors and specialists in your insurance network, booking doctor’s appointments on your behalf, helping you understand expected medical costs and current billing, getting you remote second opinions from world-leading experts, answering any questions you may have about your health plan, medical conditions, and more.

If you’re enrolled in a non-HMO HP medical option through Aetna, Anthem BCBS, or Cigna (including Cigna International), use Included Health when:

  • You are managing an unexpected medical care or a chronic condition. Our team of clinicians and care specialists can help you manage recurring appointments, refilling prescriptions, and more. 
  • You need a primary care doctor or specialist for an in-person visit. We’ll help you find trusted and experienced doctors within your insurance network and can even set the appointment for you.
  • You’d like quick answers to medical questions. We can provide you with over-the-phone guidance and support from an Included Health doctor.
  • You want to view and track your deductible. We’ll help you understand all of the details of your health plan.
  • You have questions about billing. We’ll help you understand medical costs and whether the price you’re being quoted is fair.
  • You’re unsure about a diagnosis, or you’ve been recommended surgery as a form of treatment. We can arrange for you to get a remote second opinion from a leading expert specializing in your area of need.
  • You’re not sure which of your benefits you should use. We’ll help you explore the different health benefits available to you and when to use them.
  • You’re navigating challenges within the healthcare system. We advocate for you so you can focus on what matters most, feeling better.
  • You or a covered dependent would like to find trusted, LGBTQ+ affirming doctors near you.

If you’re not enrolled in an HP medical option through Aetna, Anthem BCBS, or Cigna, or you’re enrolled in an HMO, use Included Health to find in-network doctors and better understand your health benefits.

  • Employees and their dependents, pre-65 retirees, disabled former employees, COBRA participants, and HP survivors enrolled in an Aetna, Anthem BCBS, or Cigna medical option (including Cigna International) have access to all Included Health services. 
  • Cigna International plan participants can use Included Health to receive a second opinion from leading medical experts and for help booking doctors appointments and gathering medical records when located outside of the United States. 
  • Employees and their dependents, pre-65 retirees, disabled former employees, COBRA participants, and HP survivors who are eligible for, but are not receiving health benefits in an Aetna, Anthem BCBS, or Cigna medical option can use Included Health to find in-network doctors and better understand their health benefits. This includes Kaiser plan participants.

Typically, if Included Health books an appointment on your behalf, you’ll only pay your regular copay and office visit fees for seeing an in-network doctor. For certain plans, deductible, co-insurance and/or co-pay guidelines may apply for any out-of-pocket costs as a result of an office visit. All Included Health services can be easily accessed by visiting includedhealth.com/hp or by downloading the Included Health mobile app. For certain services, a member of your Care Team will reach out to you to learn about your exact needs. They’ll take care of everything, from finding you the right doctor to collecting your medical records. Expect a care coordinator to follow up with you after you’ve seen the recommended doctor, to answer any questions you may have and start additional cases if needed.

Included Health doctors span all conditions and specialty areas, including: back and knee pain, cancer, heart disease, arthritis, behavioral health disorders, migraines, digestive system disorders, dermatology, pediatrics, ACL tears, and much more.

Included Health selects doctors based on their education and training, patient outcomes, and location. As a result, we’re able to match you with highly experienced doctors and specialists who are best suited to your personal preferences and medical needs.

Most doctors are glad to get the opinions of their peers when assessing complicated medical issues. Their primary goal is to get you feeling better. A good way to frame a conversation with your treating doctor regarding an Included Health expert opinion is:

  • “I requested a consultation about [condition] and here’s what I learned…”
  • “Here’s what I was surprised to find out…”
  • “Dr. Smith recommended these options for my care because of these reasons…”

Any personal health information you share with Included Health is held confidentially and will not be shared by us, unless authorized by you, or where legally permissible and/or required under applicable law.

Included Health is not affiliated with your insurance, and operates separately to guide your ongoing care. The goal of Included Health is to provide you with useful information about your health so that you can make informed decisions about your medical care, and have healthier outcomes overall.

The last four digits of your SSN are needed to confirm both your identity when creating an account and your eligibility for the Included Health benefit.

Included Health shares completion of eligible HP employee and spouse registrations with Personify Health daily. After your registration, you should see your points awarded on Personify Health within one day. Eligible HP employees and spouses will receive 500 Personify Health points (one-time availability) for registering with Included Health. For help with your Personify Health points, you may contact Personify Health at 844-984-2021 or email support@personifyhealth.com. You may also contact Personify Health support from your account by clicking “Support” on the right hand side of the webpage when using the desktop version. Note: former employees or spouses are not eligible for participation in the Personify Health program.
